Two toddlers in the Hood

02/21/07
The story about the two toddlers in what is now known as the "hood".....

The second "story" my spouse posed to me in the very early years of our life together was the following:
Once in the hood there were two toddlers...the one on the left side of the street was frail, hungry looking, unkept, dirty hair, no shoes,  very listless and sickly.
On the right side of the street was the second toddler, well cared for, happy looking, rosy cheeked, full of energy and playing with several of the toys his mother had brought out for him.  His mother sat and watched him play in this early summer day...warm, no clouds.
My hubby asked me: if you could only take care of one child, which would you choose?  Well, there was no question in my mind, it was a simple choice for a l960's, pants wearing feminist  with her own three children, one of them a toddler....in l974.   "Why, the one that needs it most, on the left side of the street." I told my spouse that the child that needed the most help, should always be the child you help first!
We talked endlessly over the ensuing years about the Two Men in a Race and the Two Toddlers in the Hood...he never changed his mind but I did.  My bleeding heart healed and my intellect  began to mature and talk over and today, I would choose the child on the right.  Because if no one sees to the continued wellbeing of the healthy and loved child, there will come a day when happy, healthy and loved people will disappear and the world will be left only with unhealthy, unhappy, unloved adults who won't help anyone at all.
I don't precisely remember when I changed my mind, not the exact year or month...but I do definitely remember becoming disheartened by what the country I love so much was becoming.  And the most important lesson I learned was that the road to my good intentions when I was a member of NOW and agitating was not paved with gold, but led straight to a world we are facing today.  Poverty still exists.  People still murder, lie cheat and steal in every single facet of life from home to school to business to politics.
But, what I never saw coming, never, was the hatred that those unhealthy, unhappy and unloved adults have loosed, not only in this country, but in the world.  For, in the end, the healthy child helps in life and the unhealthy child hurts others.

As an aside, I have related the story exactly as he posed it to me all those years ago.  He never argued his side, but boy, did I!  When I started on this post, something it dawned on me:  the right versus the left side.  Those were his words and today, they are more true than ever before!!

I'm TIRED!!!!

02/13/07

I am soooooooo tired of Obama, Hillary, Nancy, Ana Marie, Al G.  I don't know if I can last until the elections of 2008.  I am afraid that what has been happening the past three months with these people will become like wallpaper....every present but no longer a part of our consciousness.  That would be a terrible shame.

If this country is to survive, it is crucial that the electorate become informed about these people, their positions, their character, their power hungriness.  The ideas they bring to the table are so dreadful to consider for America.  But, I am already tired of the whole thing.

On the Republican horizon, I see a man that might be good, Rudy.  But, I don't know enough about him and times have changed so much in the past thirty years that I think even a serial murderer could get elected.  After all, haven't the "people" put into office cheaters, liars, thieves?  McCain, a man with an awesome temper and ideas like the "gang of fourteen", campaign reform(?) that have caused havoc.

I can't even watch Hannity & Colmes.  Alan Colmes has become  the epitome of what I cannot stomach:  a person so blind, deaf and dumb that in his quest to put "his" people in power there is nothing he will not say or do.  I haven't watched Mathews in years nor  have I ever watched Olberman so they don't affect me.

Obama's wife wears me out and I've only just seen and heard her for the first time in my life.  Obama could get "shot in a gas station"?  Please.  Any one of us could get knifed, shot or beaten up and have.  How about the three white women attacked by a gang of African-American girls and their penance is probation and some community time.   Was Mrs. Obama born in the United States?  Where did she grow up?
And Edwards.  Edwards, the simpleton with a 28000 square foot "house" preaching to us about doing more for the poor and a wife, I understand, blogs on the Huffington site.

I am sorry, but every one of them sounds like losers.  On both sides.  Where are the men and women with integrity, character, determination, respect and responsibility when you need them.

I'm done for today.  Can't put up with much more.  Maybe tomorrow will have a minuscule nanosecond of sanity, but I doubt it.

LOVE...Part I

02/11/07

Love.  One of the most misunderstood and most necessary emotions essential to the wellbeing of human beings.  Animals, too, seem to have a capacity for Love...perhaps not in the same way as you and I, but science will some day be able to decipher just what they feel.  The domesticated variety of animals appear to enjoy a higher level of an emotion that might be described as Love.  Time and science will tell.

But, what exactly is love?  Humans tend to believe that there is only one kind of love that is applicable to all.  I tend to disagree.  I am a romantic at heart.  I love hearts and flowers.  I love in many ways.  Because I am a mother and grandmother, I am privy to that kind of love.  But, I have also been a girlfriend and a wife. I have been a daughter, sister and friend. Since my second husband passed away in December of last year, love has been on my mind a great deal.  But there is another reason that love is part of my philosophical journey.

For those of you who have read my writings, you know that I wander all over the map on subjects.  I am interested in the human being.  What the make up is of people.  The why of what we do.  How can there be serial killers and priests?

I knew I loved my first husband.  I told him so and all during our married sojourn, I loved him.  I  disliked more and more as went on.  He was not what I had thought him to be based on our immature courtship.  I had three children by him and I know that he loved them as I did.  However, his love and mine were different.  In time, I divorced him, but it took a few years for the love I had for him to be replaced by indifference.  And on the day I realized that I no longer loved him, was totally indifferent,  was the day I began to explore the concept of what love is.  He was, what many would call, my first real love.  To my misfortune, he had learned to love a different way:  obsessively.  Any obsession is not normal and soon causes harm from mere trifling to deeply injurious.

I loved my second husband differently and my love grew and deepened and continues even though he is no longer with me.  But love is my preoccupation and I find that I have come to some conclusions about the types of love humans endure, enjoy and reciprocate.

About twenty years ago I came across a novel..."Something Wonderful" by Judith McNaught.  I am a voracious reader...more so in the last quarter of a century than the first half of my life.  I had stumbled unto a Romance Novel.  Until that book, I had not even heard about romance novels.  But once I had reread my first, I eagerly sought out all of Ms. McNaught's stories and read and reread everyone.  She has only written a few, and so I started picking up, off the cuff, titles from a variety of authors.  I had previously read Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion two of her stories I read yearly.   Bronte is not to my taste.  But these are considered classics.

What I discovered was that these women who write, and they seem to be only women, had a grasp of love and the dynamics that affect human beings in our world.  My favorite stories were usually historical novels:  those in the 1100-1700 year period.  But over the course of twenty years, I have discovered authors who write about every manner of story you can imagine set from 1100 to today.  I've learned history, fashion, manners, agricultural practices, architecture and running through every single one has been every manner of plot you can imagine, but, love is and has always been the underlying foundation of each and every one.  And the most important lesson is the lack of trust and honest communication between people, especially true lovers.  The road is rocky and almost lost in many instances because of lack of trust and communication.  Lessons, very important lessons for those of us who understand that Love is the bedrock of these novels.

Now, my favorite author is Nora Roberts.  Ms. Roberts is perhaps the most prolific writer and one of the most published throughout the world.  Her novels are enjoyed by men and women of all levels in societies around the world. More than 150 of her novels have turned up as best sellers in the New York Times book review.  Today, some of her novels are even being made into movies.  Not particularly good movies.  Ms. Roberts' plots will not lend themselves to great movies because so much of what she writes occurs as "real" in our hearts  and minds, a feat rarely accomplished by many writers.   With Nora Roberts (and other's I've read), you laugh, cry, despair, feel joy, cheer on and castigate the actors of her stories.   You will find fear, disdain, encouragement and always,  always
Love.  Real Love.

Horrorism Part II

I started as an extreme, liberal, bleeding heart feminist.  I went thru the Sixties wanting  equality of opportunity opened to women and minorities.  I was a founding member of a local NOW group, protested, attended demonstrations at the ABC Entertainment Center (is it still called that?) in Century City, California.  I was one of two who "broke" the dress code of our company.  But, I never got into drugs.  I should explain.  I am extremely susceptible to anything that medicates or alters perception: alcohol and drugs of any kind.  I have to always stress to doctors that they must be careful with the type of medication they're trying to give me for anything, and the dosage.   I once lost a full 24 hours because the doctor had prescribed Soma for a rib that had popped out of alignment.  Almost drowned with valium.  Flushed the entire bottle!

I have always been able to "have a good time" simply by existing.  I could never understand the concept of "mind alteration".  Why would people do that?  There are two reasons that I can think of:  pain or boredom!  By pain, I don't mean broken bones, I mean the pain of mind and soul because of some mental insufficiency, real or imagined.  It has been my experience that drugs are the choice of youngsters, in pain, who either become so addicted it remains a part of their entire lives thus ruining their own lives and those they come in contact with.   Or boredom!   It is a rare thing for adults to begin the mind altering process.

That youngsters that begin to ameliorate their "pain" with drugs and/or alcohol,  should come as no surprise to anybody.  It is, indeed, that in that difficult and painful time, say between 11-16  children come upon the opportunity to medicate themselves with drugs or alcohol to keep the pain of adolescence away.  There is nothing great or pretty about morphing from a young person with absolute knowledge of everything,  to that of an adult who knows, he knows nothing.  I have been watching my 16 year-old go through this process with the added real pain of losing, not only his father (a lost youth), but his grandfather via a stroke and a  best bud in a stupid, careless automobile accident.  My grandson has it good and bad simultaneously.  He cannot say he doesn't have everything he knows he has, yet, he doesn't have the one thing that can salve the pain, anger and hurt:  adulthood.  Adulthood that affords the experience and opportunity of added knowledge.  Adulthood at least offers up that master secret:  we don't know!

In my first posting on Martin Amis' Horrorism, I was smug.  I was smug because I thought I had read it completely.  I missed the third part of it.  But my smugness continues, because he has written an essay of great worth on three very important subjects:  women, god and Islamism.  He ties them together with excellent thoughts on each subject.  Explains how they intertwine and demonstrates the need for for the truth to be understood by every true human being.  Understands that freedom for women, freedom from a God of religion, and, the resultant upheaving that would come about would be death to Islamism and the terror it has begun to bestow on the peoples of Earth.   If the women of Islam gain their freedom from Islam then perhaps other peoples will have a chance to gain theirs.

He writes brilliantly and in so short an essay (even though to the average reader it may seem very long indeed) about the need to understand Islamism.  It is crucial.  Westerners who can read it should do so.  It will clearly delineate the path humans have set themselves on:  those who kill and those who do not understand those who kill.  There is no possible method of appeasement that will work.  None.  The terrorists look not for salvation, they feel that they have that in life...no, it is in death that they get their reward, the seventy virgins.  It  has always been a weird want:  seventy virgins.  But it is this "want" that has resulted in the aberration we call Islamism...or Islamofascism in the past forty or more years.  The "want" is the fuel that ignites the absolute rage of hatred they bestow on infidels.  It is the West's sexual depravity, as they see it,  that animates them.  They are like young, untried  boys who have yet to "know" woman.  They want an orgasm and they cannot obtain one because they have devalued their women to less than that of their animals.  You cannot obtain "release" with this thought process.   So, Islamism creates  the faithful who willing die for its achievement. Allows its women to exult in their men killing themselves so that in their widowhood they can finally do without those men who beat them and force them to be less than human.  Crazy, isn't it.  A true mental affliction of millions.  What a religion!

Ah, but here, smugness does not become me or the West.  We, too, have a failing and Amis puts it well indeed.  The belief in a diety.  True, there was and is a time when the human being used the concept of a diety as a means to establish moral order and discipline for the populations, but we are no longer children, we have reached young 11-16 stage of pain and/or boredom as a species.  That religion has been used to pervert, lie and cheat does in no way diminish its role as a setter of order.  God, you see, doesn't "do" anything.  We humans choose to "do" but blame God for our own sins, those of others and anything else that negatively befalls us.  Amis has the right of it.  So, I confess:  I am an atheist!  But I do not have negative feeling for anyone who believes in their God, so long as their God doesn't preach my destruction in any way, shape or form.  And, to be truthful, it has always seemed to me to be the height of conceit for a human being to think he can hear, write or know the will of "God".    My "god" is the universal processes that started the cosmos as we have begun to know it.  Whether a diety or an alien being makes little difference to me.  It is important because we are here now and we will cease to be if we don't  resolve our current problems and get off this rock eventually.  We may, in any event, for one reason or another cease to be a species on this planet and that would be a very said outcome.

For the human species to continue to inhabit this earth in a meaningful way, it is required that all humans aspire to the same thing:  freedom.  But with freedom comes very hard, complex responsibilities:  birthing beings who will be loved, unconditionally, love with good, strong discipline, consistency, taught respect and responsibility and the love of learning.   Humans, in the beginning, were "taught" these attributes.  Each of us had as an example:  our parents.  Few of us had parents who filled the bill 100%.  Humans need a society where each individual is honored just for being, supported through trauma but not to the exclusion of respect and responsibility for ones self and those entrusted to us.  Few of us had the very best  examples but most of us, I think, had love and love trumps all.  Without love, it is very difficult to overcome the myriad damage done to our psychological, biological and physical persons.  It has been done and can be done, but the work is so terribly hard.  To add insult to injury, since we learn from our parents, they, of course, learned from theirs and so on, and so on.  We are a product of who our parents were, our grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins.  And, in the last 15-20,000 years we developed "religions", cities, education centers, all the while we were all trying to gain the upper hand:  material goods, money or power through the destruction of others.  May the future be a much better place.

Two Boys & a Race II

02/05/07

In my "Two Boys & a Race"  I talked about affirmative action.  Before I nail myself to a cross, I thought I'd spend some time to finish my "thoughts" on this subject.  Affirmative Action is another Liberal idea driven down their road of Good Intentions...gone wrong.  What we should have done is made absolutely sure that every single student of any color, race or religion had the best of teachers, schools, administrators.  You can only measure progress by testing, a concept the Left wishes to do without.

How does anyone measure progress?   How does anyone "know" what needs to be done?  How does anyone implement the right things, in the right place at the right time?

We could have done it in the 50' or 60' before the hippie generation wiped out their morals and minds on drugs and sex and started this country on its current path!!   We could have forced every single administrator, teacher to start with the basics:   reading, writing and arithmetic.  Testing every step of the way to make sure the kids learned.  We know that not everyone learns at the same pace, so we should have made absolutely sure to help slower students.  We should have singled out teachers who were also "slow" at teaching.  We could have made sure only the best were allowed to teach.  We could have paid large bonuses to teachers and schools that produced good students.  We could also have taught the truth.  But no, we poured billions of dollars...hundreds of millions of which were used by the teacher's unions to stop any changes.  They're still at it.

What I know is that minority kids started to seriously fail by not wanting to "be white"....a euphemism for "I do not want to waste my time in school".   Middle class minorities made the best of the situation and moved on and up in this society.  Broke pretty much all the "colored" barriers so that today they are part of this great society.  But, they also turned their backs on their brothers/sisters who were less fortunate.  There are many African-Americans, Cosby comes to immediate mine, who have been telling the community to take back reponsibility for their children, their culture, their progress.

What can we do today besides throwing good money after bad?  Just what I've written above.  If we don't, then what happened in Long Beach will escalate into class warfare...and the Left should be 100% behind this because they don't like wars...do they?  Or, not?

Two Boys and a Race

January 19, 2007

In Psychology Today, the January/February edition, an article on a "study" of conservatives makes a typical Liberal supposition.

I look back to when I first met my recently deceased spouse of 31 years and in the hours' long talks we had then (and continued to have for 33 total years but not always so long)
he asked me, the raging, bleeding heart, pants only, Liberal feminist that I was then,  the following:

There was once a race, which can only  be run once every  generation.  It was a race between two adult males both almost identical in height, weight and strength and ability.

The starting fun went off and the racers took to the course with earnestness, determination and every skill at their command.  For the first half of the race, no one noticed anything amiss.  Then, suddenly,  almost midway through the race, someone noticed that one of the runners, who was running severely behind the front man, had a 50 pound ball chained to his ankle.  Of course all hell broke out.  The race was stopped and everyone including the judges tried, tried and tried to decide how best to finish the race.

One person suggested putting the 50 pound ball on the frontrunner but his stamina was higher at that point and many were afraid that the race would still not be fair.  Others wanted to start the race over again, but that was impossible on that day.  Many argued that the race would have to be run from the beginning on another day when both racers would be rested and the race could be fair to both.  None of these alternatives were realistic.  The race could only be run once in a generation and only at a certain time and place.  What to do?  What to do?

Break the rules, create new ones?  No one could agree.  All of a sudden a person, who had arrived late for the race and so was not aware that a 50 pound ball had been chained to one of the participants suggested calling the race a draw, wait another generation and then rerun the race.  In the meantime,he suggested, the country spend its time discovering how this abominable travesty had come about, publicizing the particulars and making sure that such a thing never, never happened again.

Instead, everyone could agree on one thing:  put two 50 pound balls on the front runner and let the race finish.  Welcome to affirmative action.  Whites got, at the very least, two 50 pound balls, the race is still not finished and much harm has been done to all participants, but mostly to the runners and the future runners, if any could ever be found that would enter a race like that again.

Am I Going Crazy?

I thought I had lost my mind.  Since the election when the Demo's took "power", it appears to me that every tinfoil hatted loon has come out from under the rocks they were hiding for the past 12 years.  They all seem to me to be using the same string of words in the same string of sentences with the same googly type of faces.  That even includes the politicians.  Nancy Pelosi and her rapid blinking tic, Sharpton's awed look, Barney Frank's pissed off look.  That is bad enough, but it seems to me that the tinfoil hatted loons actually think they have something of importance, nay, intelligence to say.

Am I going crazy?

Yesterday I listened to some loon who kept talking through, under and over everybody else even when it wasn't her turn.  With that same doopy look they get and that odd twist of the head...always to the right, as if that made what they were repeating endlessly correct.  They can't hear themselves talk, or watch themselves so you are made to wonder if they even know what they actually look like.  You know, like a James Carville. Sidney Blumenthal or Begala!  At least, I am pretty sure they knew how they sounded and looked like.  They just didn't care that they were lying and knew that we knew they were lying but if they lied often enough, we the dupes, would believe them. And, guess what?  Almost 50% of the American public did!  Wow!  How's that for a lack of gray matter!!  Remember "if the glove fits you must acquit?" from Johnny?  Ten years down the road almost nobody believes O.J.  We know he almost beheaded Nicole and killed Ron.  Maybe the almost 50% will get around to knowing the truth in a few years...but I seriously doubt it, stupid is as stupid does.  Yeah, yeah I know I shouldn't call names, but isn't that exactly what is wrong with the Right?  We don't call it what it is and look at the mess we're in.

And, to make matters really worse, there is not one single bad thing these loons can say or do that they'll get in trouble for.  Newsom in San Fran having an affair with an aide.  Turner marketing some show/channel...who knows in Boston and freezing the city in its tracks.  Jihadist Jane and too tall Tim with his S.O. at his side along with Sean bleating about the Iraq.

And, if that doesn't tick you royally off....how about that Arkin fool at the Washington Post/NBC calling our troops "mercenaries" and telling them they're so well off?  Or the weasel Chirac telling the world it is O.K. for Iran to have a couple of nukes?  Too bad they wouldn't be aimed right at the Arc de Triomf so we could get rid of this jerk.

Sorry folks, it's late here on the Ultra Leftist Coast of California and I needed to vent cause I'm not going crazy just horribly frustrated.

P.S. I did so mean "doopy".

WHAT DO THEY WANT?

January 18, 2007

Just exactly what does the American Left want this country to be?  If I listen to the main street media, they want universal health care, higher minimum wage, higher taxes for anyone who makes over $100,000 per year,
civil liberties (exactly what is that?) for everyone (except conservatives).  In other words, not the very rich, white majority.  They want the homeless to be supported, they want illegal aliens to get more rights than average Americans, they want only minorities admitted to universities (except Asians), they want make sure that any "want" in America is taken care of and paid for by you and me.

What they don't want is the free speech they constantly rag everybody about...they want to get the Fairness Doctrine back so that their liberal friends like Al Franken can make money at our expense whether we want to listen to them or not.  They want free love in the parks in the middle of the day regardless of who is around... San Francisco passed a law to allow this. . Free drugs for everyone that wants them.  They want our "educational" system to stop being an educational system and instead become a brainwashing tool for their ideology.  They don't want guns in our hands even though the police and the courts can't protect all of us.  And, if a "criminal" is actually caught and confesses, there is always a good "reason" why they did what they did: doesn't have anything to do with the crime;  they're mommy or their aunt or their teacher made them do it.   There are now maladies with discussed in initials like  ADD, ADS, TPM, PMS, PTSD...you name it, there are initial for it.

The American Left wants no rules for you and me.   Except their rules. They will tell us how much money we can make.  That we must continue to work and create wealth for them so they can tax it away from us.  They do not like war, so they'll let despots continue killing millions around the world just like the last century.  They want America on its knees apologizing while doling out billions so that the elite in countries in the world get rich like Idi Amin or Arafat.  They don't want anything to change in South America.  Let the rich folk their keep their massive share of the wealth and make the poor peons walk north and be nannies for the kids, gardeners for our lawns, low wage earners without security so that business owners can enrich them further.  They don't want to prosecute criminals, illegals or otherwise, they want to "treat" them so that they can get better.  They have more symptoms with initials and they want to create more.

In the Left Coast of America, also known as California, they are trying to pass a bill to outlaw spanking children under 3.  That is great.  But what about Jessica's Law to help 14 year-olds and younger from being sexually abused?  Nah, they didn't want to pass anything too strong on that subject.

Oh, well, we can't stop any of this because so many voters didn't think logically, they voted the ideology the Left sold them and because they were convinced by the main street media and leftists politicians that we should not have gone to Iraq.  Of course, they forgot(?) to tell the country that because of Viet Nam and their part in shutting that down, millions lost their lives.  They didn't think about the "Killing Fields" mentality that is harbored by despots of all ilk.  The left doesn't care about people dying unless they die fighting us in a war that, if we lose, will cost them every freedom they imagine they have.  It will cost them their riches and power and remove their ideology from the face of the planet.  They forget that 10% of l.5 billion is a whole hell of alot of terrorists and that they want us to convert, kill us or make us into a dhimmi country.

So, I ask again, exactly what do the tinfoil hatted Left loons want?  At the rate the are going, they are going to get exactly what they deserve:  extinction or servitude!!  Of course, we'll also get what they deserve.

You and me!

December 27, 2006

When Cro-magnons, modern man, us came over the hill, or crossed the river or came down
the mountain it caused the extinction of all other branches of the hominid line that spawned
them.

Since then, over 50,000 years ago, mankind turned towards two human distinctions:  leader
and the rest.  Through whatever means necessary, religious, fear, idolatry, tribes throughout
the world ended up being "ruled".  The rules and laws were made for submission of the
multitude to the few.  Check it out.

America, after several hundreds of years, tried to bring to fruition the Judeo-Christian philosophy.  America was an experiment meant to change the 50,000 years of modern man's insistence on inequality, unfairness and subjugation of people to an end.  In the context of their time, the Founding Fathers established a document wrested out of competing minds, the Constitution of the United States of America.  It was an experiment that I am very sad to say has failed.  Not because the Founding Fathers were wrong.  But because the obsessive need for power by those long in power and the "newbies" who have gained power through money, influence or connections in the past 60 years do not want to give up the power.  The taste of it, as in Hillary Clinton, Howard Dean, John Conyers, et. al., drives the ambition to keep it, get it and pass it on to theirs only.

Genteel and Civil, NOT!

January 16, 2007....forwarded to me by Anonymous...or as the MSM are fond of saying "from an anonymous source"...heh!

FWD: Memo From a Secret Service Agent

I flew 4 Presidential support missions in the C-141 out of Dover AFB, DE, two for President Johnson and two for President Nixon.

Johnson was a first class jerk and on the two occasions I flew for him, if the Secret Service and their Liaison in the Pentagon hadn't intervened, we would have had to stay on the airplane for hours while he (Johnson) was off somewhere. Nixon never required that, and the four (4) stops we made with him he was cordial to the Secret Service and to my crew and me.

Denny Keast:  We had a neighbor when I lived in DC who was part of the secret service presidential detail for many years. His stories of Kennedy and Johnson were the same as those I heard from the guys who flew the presidents' plane.   Yes, Kennedy did have Marilyn Monroe flown in for secret "dates," and LBJ was a typical Texas "good ole boy" womanizer. Nixon, Bush 41, and Carter never cheated on their wives. Clinton cheated, but couldn't match Kennedy or LBJ in style or variety.

The information below is accurate: The elder Bush and current president Bush make it a point to thank and take care of the air crews who fly them around. When the president flies, there are several planes that also go and carry the armored  limo, another the security detail, plus usually a press aircraft. Both Bush's made it a point to stay home on holidays, so the Air Force and security people could have a day with their families.

Hillary Clinton was arrogant and orally abusive to her security detail. She forbade her daughter, Chelsea, from exchanging pleasantries with them. Sometimes Chelsea, miffed at her mother's obvious conceit and mean spiritedness ignored her demands and exchanged pleasantries regardless, but never in her mother's presence.

Chelsea really was a nice, kindhearted, and lovely young lady.  The consensus opinion was that Chelsea loved her Mom but did not like her. Hillary Clinton was continuously rude and abrasive to those who were charged to protect her life.  Her security detail dutifully did their job, as professionals should, but they all loathed her and wanted to be on a different detail. Hillary Clinton was despised by the Secret Service as a whole.

Former President Bill Clinton was much more amiable than his wife. Often the Secret Service would cringe at the verbal attacks Hillary would use against her husband.  They were embarrassed for his sake by the manner and frequency in which she verbally insulted him, sometimes in the presence of the Secret Service, and sometimes behind closed doors.  Even behind closed doors Hillary Clinton would scream and holler so loudly that everyone could hear what she was saying.

Many felt sorry for President Clinton and most wondered why he tolerated it instead of just divorcing his "attack dog" wife. It was crystal clear that the Clinton's neither liked nor respected each other and this was true long before the Monica Lewinsky scandal.  Theirs was genuinely a "Marriage of convenience."  Chelsea was much closer to her father than her mother, even after the Lewinsky scandal, which hurt her gravely.

Bill Clinton did in fact have charisma, and occasionally would smile at or shake hands with his security detail.  Still, he always displayed an obvious air of superiority towards them.  His security detail uniformly believed him to be disingenuous, false, and that he did nothing without a motive that in some way would enhance his image and political career. He was polite, but not kind.  They did not particularly like him and nobody trusted him.

Al Gore was the male version of Hillary Clinton. They were friendlier toward each other than either of them was towards former President Clinton. They were not intimate, so please don't read that in.  They were very close in a political way.  Tipper Gore was generally nice and pleasant. She initially liked Hillary but soon after the election she had her "pegged" and no longer liked her or associated with her except for events that were politically obligatory.  Al Gore was far more left wing than Bill Clinton.  Al Gore resented Bill Clinton and thought he was too "centrist." He despised all Republicans. His hatred was bitter and this was long before he announced for the Presidency. This hatred was something that he and Hillary had in common. They often said as much, even in the presence of their security detail. Neither of them trusted Bill Clinton and, the Secret Service opined, neither of them even liked Bill Clinton.

Bill Clinton did have some good qualities, whereas Al Gore and Hillary had none, in the view of their security details. Al Gore, like Hillary, was very rude and arrogant toward his security detail.  He was extremely unappreciative and would not hesitate to scold them in the presence of their peers for minor details over which they had no control.

Al Gore also looked down on them, as they finally observed and learned with certainty on one occasion.  Al got angry at his offspring and pointed at his security detail and said, "Do you want to grow up and be like them?"  Word of this insult by the former Vice-President quickly spread and he became as disliked by the Secret Service as Hillary. Most of them prayed that Al Gore would not be elected President, and they really did have private celebrations in a few of their homes after President Bush won.  This was not necessarily to celebrate President Bush's election, but to celebrate Al Gore's defeat.

Everyone in the Secret Service wants to be on First Lady Laura Bush's detail.  Without exception, they concede that she is perhaps the nicest and most kind person they have ever had the privilege of serving.  Where Hillary patently refused to allow her picture to be taken with her security detail, Laura Bush doesn't even have to be asked, she offers. She doesn't just shake their hand and say, "Thank you."  Very often, she will give members of her detail a kindhearted hug to express her appreciation. There is nothing false about her.  This is her genuine nature.  Her security detail considers her to be a "breath of fresh air."

They joke that comparing Laura Bush with Hillary Clinton is like comparing "Mother Teresa" with the "Wicked Witch of the North." Likewise, the Secret Service considers President Bush to be a gem of a man to work for.  He always treats them with genuine respect and he always trusts and listens to their expert advice.  They really like the Crawford, Texas detail.  Every time the president goes to Crawford he has a Bar-B-Q for his security detail and he helps serve their meals. He sits with them, eats with them, and talks with them.  He knows each of them by their first name, and calls them by their first name as a show of affection. He always asks about their family, the names of which he always remembers. They believe that he is deeply and genuinely appreciative of their service. They could not like, love, or respect anyone more than President Bush.  Most of them did not know they would feel this way, until they had an opportunity to work for him and learn that his manner was genuine and consistent.  It has never changed since he began his Presidency. He always treats them with the utmost respect, kindness, and compassion.

Please pass this on.  It is important for Americans to have a true inside understanding of their President.

I cannot offer any attribution, first because those who forwarded don't wish me to and second because it may
prove harmful to the writer of the letter.  But, it's a good read anyway and sure fits what I have felt all along about the politicians on both sides of the aisle.

TRIBILISM?

01/15/2007

Homo sapiens, us, are descended from hundreds of thousands of "tribes".  In the beginning, and until about two hundred and fifty years ago, we were still part of tribes called English, French, Chinese, Japanese, African, American Indian and so on, and so on, and so on.

Then an unexpected:  people chose to leave these "tribal" areas in the hopes of living lives without the unconscionable government cruelty that had existed for thousands of years (and still does in almost every country in the world).  People were not people to the rulers of these countries.  They had, over millennia, become slaves to be used, abused and killed at leisure.  They had no rights.  Were allowed no thought.  Theirs was to slave daily for their masters and hope for a small crumb at the end of each day with which to feed their families.  But the choice of embarking on what must, then, have been an almost impossible journey, was taken and on the East Coast of a country recently discovered, humans looking for freedom of sorts found their way here.  On the West Coast, another group of humans, more looking for choices in lifestyle and enrichment, traveled from South America.

A new "concept" had been born, even though no one thought of it that way.  For, in America, a new "tribe" was to rise up and create an awesome powerhouse in just two hundred years.  America also became a tribal country, but, this tribe was made up of the members of many tribes from around the world.  Sure, there were problems.  Still are if you just care to look around America the world today.  But, in less than 250 years, this country continued the experiment created by America's Founding Fathers.

Our tribe, Americans, are unique in the world.  We each have our own "old" culture to look back on, but we have a more important current culture to care for.  At least 49% of us aren't doing a good job of it.  Why?  Because about 75+/- years ago, a small percentage of people who had emigrated or were arriving to get away from their own hell didn't come for any freedoms, they came with a conception of power that has given rise to socialist/communist sympathizers who wish to change what made America great and turn it into another third world country populating the planet.  It is an old canard to say "equality" for all, when in reality what you are really saying is:

I know what is best.  Let me do it my way.  You have no choices.  I will decide how you
         should live.

Sound familiar?  Kings used it.  Popes used it.  Emperors used it.  Presidents use it.  Senators and congressmen use it.  Governors, mayors and police captains use it.   We use it when we try to teach our children how to be.  Teachers use it to make children try to behave.

Every law and rule we have is someone's attempt to control someone else.  It is too sad that today, the laws and rules have become ridiculous.  No transfat.  No foie gras.  No free speech.  No...no...no...no.  Perhaps we, as a group really need minuscule meddling to keep us straight.  Hmmmmmmm.

Hypocricy

January 13, 2007

Hypocrisy, thy name is Barbara Boxer

There many other names that would apply equally to Ms. Boxer.  After all she is one of the two Senators from the Left Coast State of California.  She has spoken uncivilly for many years to anyone who holds any view different from hers.  She is what I call a "queen bee" female.  A subject I have written about in this blog.  She is the opposite of what an "alpha male" is.  Notice, however, that nowhere does the description use the words woman and man.  Male and female is exactly what these people are.  They are very much like spoiled, strong willing children that will, in fact, hold their breath until they turn blue unless they get their way.  I call her behavior shameful.  It is certainly not a "human" trait, it is a trait of the very conceited to "speak truth to power", indeed.  She should have said "speak with power against the truth"!

Gee, Ya Think???

Great post from American Thinker.com...a daily must read of mine.  I would only add that our societal characteristics are very ancient...possibly began with the ascent of Cro-Magnon, us.

Ideas have consequences

Thomas Lifson
From an Australian blog, The Mind of Flapjack, comes a reminder that some of our most troubling societal characteristics are not that recent in origin.
I've almost finished reading Ideas Have Consequences, and although it was written in 1948, it is quite applicable to our society today. Some things have to be forgiven simply due to the time that has passed since its publication and now, but the overall tone of the book is spot-on. This paragraph in particular is relevant when considering what is wrong in American society today:
In the final analysis this society is like the spoiled child in its incapacity to think. Anyone can observe in the pampered children of the rich a kind of irresponsibility of the mental process. It occurs simply because they do not have to think to survive. They never have to feel that definition must be clear and deduction correct if they are to escape the sharp penalties of deprivation. Therefore the typical thinking of such people is fragmentary, discursive, and expressive of a sort of contempt for realities. Their conclusions are not "earned" in the sense of being logically valid but are seized in the face of facts. The young scion knows that, if he falls, there is a net below to catch him. Hardness of condition is wanting. Without work to do, especially without work that is related to our dearest aims, the mental sinews atrophy, as do the physical. There is evidence that the masses, spoiled by like conditions, incur a similar flabbiness and in crises will prove unable to think straight enough to save themselves.
