MONSTER in the closet.....

August 16, 2009 9:00am PST

"Anger at town halls fuel misinformation" by Dena Bunis, of the Orange County Register, was a classic example of a left leaning journalist leaning her words in the same direction.  Misinformation is the result
of not being transparent, as promised, by this administration.  There, as far as I can determine (thanks to Bunis herself) three house versions, one senate version and perhaps a Republican one which will not
see the light of day or be discussed by the Left or media.
There are now, probably, a few representatives and a Senator or two that might, might have read all three
bills in the house and the senate version.  But, what is patently clear to me in following this entire situation is
that these 1,000 plus page bills have been in development for several months!!  And, by, not only ideology
driven staff, but also lawyers.  I have scanned several portion of each bill and the minutia is something
to behold.  Unless there is fair and clear reporting, Americans have the absolute right to try and prevent the
passage of a bill that is a clear monstrosity.
Unless the main stream media carefully edited the video of Senator DeMint, then I believe what he said was
that this could be Obama's "Waterloo" and this bill could "break" this presidency.  Ms. Bunis says "it's not clear how many of the protesters....are there because they genuinely want to stop what they believe is a bad bill....", but she should have noted that it is clear that the Left, funded by extreme left wing zealots, are there to hurt and disrupt the town halls.  The union members that were wearing union shirts and beating and kicking a vendor....the ugly preprinted signs, their yelling and screaming and pushing are reminiscent of the street
marches in the past.  Bunis must have a bad memory.  But Dena, yes, the people are angry....and much of
what Obama has said in the past, in closed sessions and privately (leaked), are clear.  This President and his
supporters, both in the White House, Congress, bureaucracies and unions want and have already started
changing this country.
Dena, what this administration has done is work with the Medicare providers and won a $500 Billion
dollar concession from them for the next ten years  to help push his bill through....but, where do you suppose
Medicare providers will get the money they must have to continue?  The seniors.  I am one and have spent
countless hours in meetings where Medicare was explained clearly, in full, and all the presenter used
an 8 l/2 x 11 inch piece of paper.   I know my out of pocket costs will go up, there no other way, they think.
Why can't the government consider deploying across the country of the second best rated Medicare provider
in the United States?  Instead of trying to remake the system, use Kaiser Permanente's model.  Other countries are coming to study it because it accomplishes what the people want.   This Administration has also worked out some sort of compromise with the drug companies to the tune of $80 billion dollars...who get shafted here?
Tort Reform isn't even considered.  Why?  Because of the lobby and the fact that most of the congressional members are lawyers themselves?  John Edwards made his millions winning cases that in some cases later proved to be wrong.  Did John return the money?  Did his clients?  If you are reforming, changing, redoing health care in this country, reign in the lawyers for pity's sake.
They don't care about the "other" sides' opposition....they will achieve whatever they can, however they can.  It is the Leftist way.  Rahm Emanuel said that a crisis is a perfect opportunity to achieve your goals and should not be wasted.  Well, Rahm and his cohorts certainly have not.
There is a clear and strong elitist disdain displayed by Bunis.   She even brings Palin into the mix which
should go to show just how the Left despises a woman who has achieved precisely what the goals
of the Women's Movement I was in marched for.  Plus, she is attractive with a hunk of a hubby...green envy?
You betcha!!  Dena, tell your professor, Bruce Cain, that the bills are complex by design, as are nearly 100%
of whatever the government writes up...perhaps if lawyers were not in the mix, those of us who can read
and understand words on a page could do a better job of explaining the insane proposals.  But, the Left
would never reign in the legal beagles in their midst, it makes controlling a population so much easier.

Catastrophe!!

07/28/2009 10:03am PST

A response to a New Yorker writer:

First let me say that the writer looks suspiciously like the avatar on the the page so we can think him  a "Bracknell" type.

I want universal health care.  I don't know of anyone at anytime in my lifetime that hasn't and doesn't.  But, we in this country,  unlike other less free countries, do it backwards.  First came Social Security for the poor which became the social remedy for anyone with any medical problem; children were added as beneficiaries...and with inflation began to get so bloated that it is now severely strained to make ends meet.
Then came Medicaid.  Then came Medicare.  Then came prescription drug "coverage".  We do things backwards.  In these other countries the people are more used to having things done for them.  Their expectations are not Americans.  But, when we do something, we try to do it well.  The sad fact is that in none of the aforementioned entitlement programs (as in so much of our lives), the future costs were never truly investigated.  Both sides, all sides wanted this.
I have a simple solution:  do away with all programs, except Social Security that provides the seniors a stipend as promised originally.  Take Medicaid, Medicare, Drug Coverage, and every other state and federal program created to deal with some issues and issue one universal medical coverage plan for everyone for everything.  Using the money from Medicaid, Medicare and the Drugs should certainly make it best.  And, allow clinics to be opened in every  Wal-Mart in the country staffed by RN's and all paid for by Wal-Mart.  They wouldn't allow them to do it a few years ago in California, but perhaps now it the time. Every single American would have access to healthcare in this country AND issue insurance for catastrophic events in every citizen's life.
Can it work?  Can it save us money?  I will have to leave those questions to others.  I am just one citizen of this great country.
