Joseph Lieiberman's senior advisor, has a great piece in the WSJ, The Decline of the Angry Left, it is one of many that is beginning to come out of the woodwork and discuss a subject that most progressives would rather not face up to.
Hatred is an interesting emotion, generally. I mean, if someone abuses you in whatever fashion you end up really disliking them and eventually hating them. So, where does the Bush Derangement Syndrome come from?
What I find most interesting is that those with that much hatred in their hearts are the elites, above average income earners, large business owners...most of whom own their own homes, planes, boats, etc. They have, for the most part, achieved this on their own although there are the dynasties such as the Kennedy, et al. But on the whole, everyone of them has benefited from this country's foundation and yet they hate it! They are not against taking as much money as they can get and enjoying a lifestyle the majority of Americans, indeed the planet, wouldn't have the slightest clue about. They certainly create tax shelters and go offshore with their money and they make sure their children get as much as they can leave. This is so against what they say but most of us don't really pay attention. So, why the hate?
They hate America because they have so much, don't want to give it up, but they also want to change things so that "we" think we're getting something for free and keep them in power to make more money to shelter or move off shore. The Clinton's, Edwards and Obamas are a slightly different version. They have arrived at their financial strength from their politics and in Edwards' case by ambulance chasing and winning lawsuits that today would never see the light of day. They all feel guilty of being America's aristocrats when they should just be ordinary citizens. You see, they made themselves into aristrocrats...we didn't, or at least the majority of Americans that are sane and not full of hatred didn't. We do not have aristocrats in America and that, I believe, is the core problem for these progressives: they want to be royalty, feel they deserve it and hate anyone who doesn't agree.
Markos "KosKid" Moulitsas is one of these types of progressives that used his hatred of America, Bush and anything he felt was not in his belief system....now, he has made his money, hasn't had much influence on the national scale. His influence is waning, so what are the haters to do now? They needn't worry, there are still Atrios, Carville Begala and their ilk to carry on.
