Obama is not....

02/02/08 10:21am PST

My thoughts on a blog posting resulting in this comment, which ended up as a post here because I enlarged upon my comment:

The writing by the Captain first, the comments are second of the reasons this is my daily blog read.  I have gotten to that point in my life where the talk shows both on radio and television and the ideologically driven blogs are "noise" to me.  I want to read reasonable, intelligent, caring human beings'  thoughts on subjects I have formed opinions on.   This adds to my process of decision making and helps me.

I have discovered what I was afraid of  was always the truth:  98% of the world's population does not care a bit about anyone else but itself.  The 2% are those who try to make a difference and sometimes succeed.  However, how in the world do we honestly think we can affect change immediately when we have been "changing" for over six million years and only in the last century did we begin to have a population in this country who could and did make substantial contributions in every portion of our lives.  Change has come about but the effects of how "change" was allowed to happen has messed us up.  You cannot undue thousands of centuries of living experience by human beings in the blink of an eye and not expect to get poked in it with a sharp stick.

I want to have now what my parents passed on to me:  the assumption by me of respect for others, taking responsibility for my every informed action, honestly caring for others in need because they were unable to help themselves, gripping hard the sexual realities and outcomes and not do murder on them, acceptance, totally, of others lifestyles unlike my own.  All of the aforementioned without any qualification except this:  I and the other do no harm to ourselves, each other and those in this universe.   It took me over five decades to come to the truth:  only a minuscule portion of human beings believe this way.

But, those who express these beliefs in politics, business or religion generally do so because of  greed, power, hate or all three.  Aggrandizement of oneself seems to be the primary necessity of people particularly when they become powerful through family, money, politics.  Whether or not they have earned their positions means nothing.  The position is all.  Would Ted Kennedy be Ted Kennedy if not for his "name" and family connection?  Would Hillary be running for president if not for her "family" connection with her husband and the machine of people she created.   Would McCain be McCain except for Viet Nam?  Giuliani tried to gain position because of his handling of 9/11...didn't  work.  Obama runs because he is not a black man in the sense American understands the term.  He is a mixed race male attached to a religious power broker without experience in the "real" world.  And, he is a bargainer.  A bargainer is one that achieves his success based on guilt from the other.  So, Obama says, "I am black", and we, the white population feel guilt over what blacks went through because of us here in America.  Of course nothing is ever said about what blacks and just every other minority is being put through around the world, still!  But you get my drift, it is only Americans of the white persuasion that must feel this need to "balance" scales.  All the time, however, we are robbed through our taxes, manipulated to silence by fascist tactics of Obama and Hillary supporters and generally expected to "do the work, earn the dough and pay through the nose" because we are guilty...we are white.

So, in the end, what difference is it if we are liberal or conservative...if we are white,  we are guilty, end of message.
